This kit includes:

Go Direct® Heart Rate

The Vernier Go Wireless Heart Rate is ideal for continuously monitoring heart rate before, during, and after exercise or while a person is stationary.

  • Simple and easy to use
  • Displays live heart rate readouts before data collection
  • Hand grips do not require electrodes or clips
  • Easy to clean and share between students

Data can be transmitted to devices or interfaces that support Bluetooth® wireless technology. For interfaces that do not support Bluetooth wireless technology, this sensor will require the Heart Rate Receiver included with the Hand-Grip Heart Rate Monitor.

For a hands-free option, please consider the Go Wireless Exercise Heart Rate.

Go Direct® Respiration Belt

Measure human breathing patterns quickly with the Go Direct Respiration Belt, which connects wirelessly via Bluetooth® or wired via USB to your device. Go Direct Respiration Belt uses a force sensor and an adjustable nylon strap around the chest to measure respiration effort and respiration rate. An LED indicator provides feedback so belt tension can be optimized. Respiration rate is reported in the Graphical Analysis 4 app, which makes comparison studies between subjects or experiments easy to do.

  • Observe how respiration rate changes after exercise or breath holding.
  • Observe how respiration effort (the force exerted by the chest during respiration) changes after exercise or breath holding.
  • Measure steps and step rate during a study with the built-in pedometer.

Go Direct® Conductivity Probe

Go Direct Conductivity Probe determines the ionic content of an aqueous solution by measuring its electrical conductivity. It features a built-in temperature sensor to simultaneously read conductivity and temperature. Automatic temperature compensation allows students to calibrate the probe in the lab and then make measurements outdoors without temperature changes affecting data. This temperature compensation can be turned off to perform conductivity studies as a function of temperature.

The Go Direct Conductivity Probe has a range of 0 to 20,000 μS/cm to provide optimal precision in any given range. An alternating current at its electrodes prevents polarization and electrolysis, reducing contamination of solutions. Its ABS-body graphite electrode resists the corrosion typical in metal electrodes.

The Go Direct Conductivity Probe can be used in a variety of experiments:

  • Demonstrate diffusion of ions through membranes.
  • Investigate the difference between ionic and molecular compounds, strong and weak acids, or ionic compounds that yield different ratios of ions.
  • Measure Total Dissolved Solids (TDS).

BioChamber 2000

The BioChamber 2000 is a 2000 mL plastic chamber that can be used with a CO2 Gas Sensor and an O2 Gas Sensor to monitor gaseous carbon dioxide and oxygen levels simultaneously in a closed system. The BioChamber 2000 is particularly useful when monitoring respiration and photosynthesis. The large top opening provides easy access to insert, adjust, or remove the sample.

The BioChamber 2000 has two sensor ports. If you choose not to use both ports, a size 6 rubber stopper fits snugly in the grommet. Note: While the stopper fits well, it is not guaranteed to be a water tight seal.

BioChamber 250

The BioChamber 250 is a 250 mL Nalgene bottle that can be used with a CO2 Gas Sensor and an O2 Gas Sensor to monitor gaseous carbon dioxide and oxygen levels simultaneously in a closed system. The BioChamber is useful in experiments such as photosynthesis and cell respiration.

With the bottle on its side, place the CO2 Gas Sensor into the neck of the BioChamber and the O2 Gas Sensor into the rubber grommet as shown. This design keeps the O2 Gas Sensor in the desired upright position while placing the CO2 Gas Sensor in an ideal position for gas level monitoring.

A size 6 rubber stopper fits into the rubber grommet if an O2 Gas Sensor is not used. Note: While the stopper fits snugly in the grommet, it is not guaranteed to be a water tight seal.

The BioChamber 250 replaces the CO2 to O2 Tee.

Go Direct® Gas Pressure Sensor

Use Go Direct Gas Pressure Sensor to monitor gas pressure in a variety of experiments. It records accurate absolute pressure readings relative to the perfect vacuum reference point inside the sensor, allowing you to go below atmospheric pressure or up to 400 kPa. Easily change the displayed units to any one of seven options (kPa, mmHg, inHg, mbar, psiatm, torr). Includes a syringe, tubing, and stoppers to ease setup for experiments such as Boyle’s law.

The Go Direct Gas Pressure Sensor can be used in a variety of experiments:
